Green to Gold

Green to Gold applications are handled directly by Cadet Command.  You can apply by creating an account and then applying here

Active Duty Option

Requirements:  Under 30 at projected commissioning/graduation date with waivers up to 39, 2-8 years' time left in service, exactly 4 semesters remaining to complete a bachelors or masters degree (Fall, Spring, Advanced Camp, Fall, Spring/Graduation), and 2.5 College GPA. 

Application Deadline:  Last Friday in November each year.

Notification:  Applicants are notified of their selection status approximately a month after the board meets. 

Benefits:  Remain on active duty with current pay at the time of program start,  all active duty allowances/benefits/BAH/BAS, and GI Bill.  Active Duty Option Cadets may not use Tuition Assistance. 

Administrative:  Winners receive orders with duty at the host ROTC battalion through normal command channels.  Requests for deferment of deployment or PCS orders to await results of the G2G board go through normal command channels.  Green to Gold winners are entitled to normal PCS entitlements if they decide to attend college other than where they are currently stationed.


Scholarship Option

Requirements:  Under 31 Dec of your projected commissioning/graduation year (no waivers - statutory requirement), 2.5 college GPA for 2-3 year scholarship applicants, 2.5 HS GPA and proof of ACT/SAT completion for 4-year scholarship applicants, 2-10 years' time active federal service, and from 0-60+ college credits (length of scholarship is determined by time needed to graduate). 

Application Deadline:  Last Friday in November  for board application; Commanders' Hip-Pocket Scholarships are due to Cadet Command April 1. 

Notification:  Applicants are notified of their selection status approximately a month after the board meets.

Benefits:  Discharge from active duty in order to accept a 100% full tuition scholarship, GI Bill, monthly Cadet stipend of $420, and $1200 per year book/fee allowance. 

Administrative:  Request for deferment of deployment or PCS orders awaiting board results is through normal command channels.  Request for discharge from active duty to accept G2G Scholarship proceeds through normal command channels.  Accession into Active or Reserve Component upon commissioning is determined by standing on order of merit list.


Non-Scholarship Option

Requirements:  Under 30 with waivers up to 39 at projected commissioning/graduation date, 2-10 years' time in service, exactly 4 semesters remaining to complete degree (Fall, Spring, Advanced Camp, Fall, Spring/Graduation), and 2.0 college GPA. 

Application Window:  Application requirements must be met NLT 30 days prior to start of semester, including waiver approval and DoDMERB qualification. 

Notification:  No later than 30 days prior to start of semester, by the gaining ROTC Battalion. 

Benefits: Utilize Montgomery GI Bill and ROTC stipend.  Can join the National Guard or Army Reserve and utilize available education assistance.

Administrative:  Acceptance into program is determined on a case-by-case basis by the Professor of Military Science (PMS) at each ROTC Battalion.  Request for discharge from active duty to enroll in G2G Non-Scholarship Program proceeds through normal command channels.  Discharge requests should be accompanied by acceptance letter into program (signed by PMS), waiver approvals (from Cadet Command), and DoDMERB qualification.  Accession into Active or Reserve Component upon commissioning is determined by standing on order of merit list.
