High School Students

If you're interested in attending college while learning what it takes to become an Army Officer, ROTC may be right for you. In addition to leadership development, military training, and discipline, ROTC scholarships can significantly reduce or even eliminate college debt.

Army ROTC scholarships provide:

  • Full tuition and required fees
  • $1,200 annually for books
  • $420 monthly tax-free stipend
  • Missouri S&T Bonus: Room and board waiver for up to 15 cadets per year group

Note: The S&T room and board waiver is available to incoming cadets who receive a 4-year or 3-year Advanced Designee Army ROTC scholarship.

Basic Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 17 years old by October of the semester you enter college
  • Not reach 31 years of age by June 30 of your graduation year
  • Be considered a freshman with four academic years remaining for a bachelor’s degree
  • Have a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Satisfactorily explain any record of arrest or civil conviction
  • No moral or personal conviction against bearing arms or defending the Constitution

Your Commitment: An 8-year military service obligation upon graduation and commissioning. This may be fulfilled through:

  • 4 years Active Duty and 4 years in the Army National Guard or Army Reserve, or IRR
  • 8 years part-time in the Army National Guard or Army Reserve

College Students

Campus-based scholarships are available for students who were not awarded or did not apply for a high school ROTC scholarship or Green to Gold program. These scholarships are limited and range from 2 to 4 years in length.

They provide:

  • Full tuition and mandatory fees (resident and non-resident students)
  • Annual book allowance
  • $420 monthly tax-free stipend

Applications may be submitted year-round to the Recruiting Officer in Harris Hall 306.
